I saw Julia Roberts' new chick flick
Eat Pray Love this weekend, and was curious to see how it stacked up against the harsh reviews a lot of critics have given it. I thought it had good and bad moments, but it's an interesting movie to think about in the context of our class. The movie even has a shout-out to feminism: Felipe, the heroine's love interest, is praised as a "good feminist husband" for staying home and taking care of his children while his first wife pursued a career.
Huffington Post also published a "feminist" reading of the movie,
here.
